The faculty is excellent and includes many extremely knowledgeable industry professionals. Students are introduced to the brewing process, fermentation, and the pilot system, with an emphasis on safety and sanitation during the first semester.
The five-course program is intended to provide students with a solid understanding of brewing science, engineering, management and service.
The complete baccalaureate degree with the fermentation concentration is a four-year program where students obtain a strong foundation in different areas of knowledge in agriculture, chemistry, biology, safety, and business along with laboratory and problem-solving skills that can be integrated so students can actively engage in the industry.
Beer Schools was last modified: The UC San Diego Extension Brewing program curriculum provides students with the technical skill and knowledge to select raw materials, operate the brewhouse for wort production, manage yeast and fermentation processes, and finish and package the product, all to the highest industry standards.
